I just love to hear that particular sound, especially in the morning. Today, I heard it. It means that spring is coming. I lay in bed this morning trying so hard to wake up, and then I heard that beautiful sound. I quickly sat up with a new outlook for my day. Spring is coming. It did not take long for me to remember that there is snow in the forcast for tomorrow. Bummer! Well it is February now so I still have the spring to look forward to, just not as soon as I would like.
When my first child was still little, about one year old, we lived in a mobile home. I say that to say that the outdoor sounds could be heard from any room. It was about this time of year that I heard the same bird sounds. My heart would beat a little faster in the excitement of the coming spring. I threw open the windows just to hear the birds and feel the gentle cool breezes blow throughout the house; only, it was probably 50 degrees outside. After that I pulled out my summer clothes to wear. I remember thinking that it should warm on up in the house any minute. I actually shivered as I went about the business of spring cleaning the house and unpacking the summer clothes. I have no idea how I dressed the baby, but he did not seem to mind the arctic air that was blowing through the house.
That memory comes to me when I hear the birds and it is still cold outside. Is there anyone reading this that gets so excited about the change in seasons? If so, please let me know I am not alone.
