RELAXING.....

That is my first thought when I think of sitting on the back porch. I have so many memories of doing just that. We had a porch on our house when I was growing up. That is where we all went to hang out. We did have a family room, or great room, but it was to the porch that everyone gravitated. We usually would hang out there after supper. When friends came to visit, you would be able to find us there. We would even wrap up in a blanket in the winter months (which are pretty mild around here) just to be there. That was back in the day that we didn't have many extra activities in our lives, only church.

My grandmother's home had a back porch that they turned into a sun-room. That was also the congregating spot in her home. She always referred to it as the back porch. Family and friends were always showing up at her house, usually unexpected. She always had something in her kitchen to serve. She is now in heaven.

I just love conversations on the back porch. The topics jump around more than pond frogs until you can't remember how you got to the final point you were making. In our busy days it is hard to find the time to have friends over or to visit, but I always feel so refreshed after such visits. Maybe it's because I don't get out much, and I have so much to say.
